Deltares - Enabling Delta Life
  Delft GeoAcademy

The behaviour of our subsoil cannot always be predicted with accuracy. This is often caused by variations in soil layers as a result of their natural deposit. This can lead to considerable risks during construction and decontamination projects. The state-of-the-art in Geo-Engineering is not sufficiently apparent in practice, particularly uncertainties and their continuation into risk management during construction processes and use of underground structures. Implementation of new, promising concepts does not always progress quickly enough.

Using a focused transfer of knowledge, particularly in the bridging function between science and practice (a central activity of Deltares, the Dutch National Institute for Geo-Engineering), Delft GeoAcademy can fill in the gaps that have been described.

Developing specific knowledge

Delft GeoAcademy is Deltares’ educational facility and focuses on transferring knowledge in the field of geo-engineering (soil mechanics, foundation technology, and geo-ecology). By means of master classes and ICT facilities – both national as well as international - Delft GeoAcademy aims to introduce new developments to professional practice. Delft GeoAcademy is intended to act as a supplement to college (HBO) and university education, aiming to make the development of specific knowledge more professional. The content is designed to fit in with current post-doctoral programmes and other initiatives in this area. In addition, Delft GeoAcademy aims to fill in the knowledge gaps of those working ‘in the field’ by translating specialist know-how and expertise into practice.

Open registration

Our training sessions are offered via open registration. Click here to view a complete overview of the courses we offer and here to register. We always send you a confirmation of registration and you will receive the remaining relevant information shortly before the training course is due to begin.

If the number of registrations exceeds the maximum number that we can include in a group, we will do our best to arrange a second training course. If this is not possible, we will place you on the waiting list for the next training session. You will be informed of this as quickly as possible.

Please note that courses may be cancelled due to insufficient interest.
